Bradley Hutchings
I started as a graphic designer in the 80s, moving to the AppleMac in 1992. My first illustration of the style seen in my prints was done in 1997. There is an obvious nod to the old travel poster style.
In 2009, I moved from the Midlands to Bournemouth and started up Longsummer as a business. I traded at markets from 2011 to 2024 and still online, here and on Etsy and Redbubble.

Longsummer
...is just me. I've used the name for around 25 years and it can be a good fit for many things.

VeloCityPrints
...was set up in 2020 with David King, a fellow cyclist, who had the idea to create cycle posters, initially of the classic Grand Tour climbs. He felt my style would stand out in an already crowded market and so we set about designing and creating the range that David sells today.
Prints can be bought at his market stall or online at Etsy (link on Cycle Prints page).

The illustration process
I drew using Adobe Illustrator on the Mac (the early ones used Macromedia Freehand). A typical illustration took about 30 hours (the Taj Mahal was about this time).
With a chosen subject, I took plenty of pictures, which I then adjusted, to set up my prefered design.
I created an editable palette of minimal and bright colours. With my adjusted photos on a base layer, I built up the illustration over a few layers, drawing point by point with the mouse..
